A Fascinating History
Climbing Lincoln’s wonderfully unforgiving Steep Hill, one finally reaches the Wig & Mitre, nestled between cathedral spires and ancient stone. Its 14th-century origins were later coaxed into Georgian elegance, welcoming clergy with glittering mitres and judges beneath stately wigs.
Today, polished beams and creaking floors echo with centuries of murmured gossip and clinking glasses. Over a well-kept ale, one can almost feel the city’s history brush past, offering a warm, approving nod.
